Course description

A general course spanning hand-building and wheel work for beginners. More advanced students can focus on special projects. Interested students will be given opportunities to learn about basic clay chemistry and art project design. Surface decoration, sculptural embellishments and glazing will all be included. Clay purchases extra.

What to bring and wear

Clay and tools

  • you may bring your own or purchase at the studio
  • Recommended clays: JB3, walkers 10, BRT
  • If you are purchasing clay at the studio please bring at least $20.00. Please bring exact amounts as we do not have change.
  • Pottery tools are available for your use. You may purchase your own.
  • Old clothes
  • Towel
  • Notebook and pen

Important information

  • For your own health and safety we recommend you do not eat or drink in the pottery building.
  • If you have your own transport please take your clay home each week. The limited storage is for students using public transport.
  • Class fee covers glazes, associated materials and firing of the work that students produce during the class.

The course fee does not cover firings of items made outside of class time

Please note that children must not attend this class unless it is a specified parent/child activity.

Refund policy

Cancellations and Refunds
Please choose your course carefully. A full refund is payable in the event that a class is cancelled. No other refunds are considered except for extenuating circumstances which are supported by a written application.
