Course description

This course is designed to reinforce and extend the learning of students who have completed Advanced Digital Cameras – Beginners to Intermediate or a similar camera course.
It builds on student’s knowledge and teaches skills in lighting, composition, camera settings and editing.
The course consists of 3 sessions:

  • mid-week class, focusing on flash and night time photography
  • 6 hour daytime class held at the Port Arthur Historical site
  • midweek class covering editing techniques to complete the processing of images taken during the previous classes

What your course will cover:

The first session concentrates on improving techniques for low light and flash photography.
The practical session at Port Arthur provides the perfect classroom with interior and exterior locations for photography ranging from macro to portraits, landscapes, architecture and so much more.
Please note that the cost of enrolment does not include entry to the Port Arthur Historical Site. Entry costs can be located at
The final session shows how great photographs are not just created in the camera, but need ‘developing’ in the post shooting editing. Various editing techniques will be explored including panorama stitching, exposure blending and RAW file conversion.

This course is not suitable for total beginners to photography; ideally, students will have completed a photography course as this is an extension course.
Beginners should enrol in our Advanced Digital Cameras -Beginners to Intermediate course.
