French - Eating Out in France

Course Description

This course is dedicated to people who plan a trip to France and wish to learn (more) about French food and drinks and how to buy/order them in French shops like bakery or delicatessen shop, cafés and restaurants.

What your course will cover

In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with a lot of comprehensive, practical and helpful documents, you will learn about :
  • Greetings and etiquette in shops, cafés, restaurants in France
  • Cultural differences between Australian and French food and eating out rules
  • Choosing a venue, ordering/buying drinks, snacks and meals in French
  • Typical French snacks, dishes and drinks
  • Booking and ordering in a restaurant
  • Understanding menus and know more about French food traps
  • Expressing special needs and allergies (vegetarian, gluten free...)

This class is NOT about learning the French language, but learning about the French food culture, which is very different from the Australian and give you simple tools to understand, order and buy French food and drinks

  • Be ready to enjoy all the range of French food and drinks during your next stay in France

What to bring

  • Pen & note book (or electronic equivalent) for your personal notes
  • A folder for your many handouts – an expandable A4 folder with plastic sleeves is recommended.

Important information

  • Most language classes fill up quickly. However, your class could be cancelled if not enough people enrol.
  • Please note that children must not attend this class unless it is a specified parent/child activity
