Course description

A Raw file is comparable to an undeveloped film. The Raw file is equivalent to the negative which can be developed and processed in a variety of ways.
You can extract the best possible image quality from it, and the original file is left untouched and can be processed differently as many times as you want in the same or different software.

What your course will cover

In the course, you will be taught the basic steps in processing RAW images as well as advanced techniques to create imaginative images that will stand out.
Some of the steps in processing an image include applying an initial base curve and white balance to replicate the JPG look created by the camera as well as noise reduction and sharpening.
There is so much more you can do to correct the exposure, recover the highlights and shadows, correct lens distortion and perspective problem, as well using local contrast adjustments and haze removal tools to improve the clarity of details.
This represents just a little bit of what can be done in developing RAW images.
This course will use several free software programs to process your RAW files.
Propriety software such as Adobes Lightroom and Camera Raw will be demonstrated and discussed for those who subscribe to these products.
There is no need to purchase any software for this course as the free software is excellent for processing your RAW files and learning basic and advanced techniques.
