Course description

A specialised course for those keen on creative hand-building work. From garden pots to sculptural work, small or large. Wheels are available but emphasis is on sculptural pottery. All levels of experience. Clay purchases extra.

What to bring

Clay and tools

  • Clay is not included in pottery course fees. You may bring your own or purchase it at the studio.
  • Recommended clays: Keanes Special K or Buff Raku.
  • If you are purchasing clay at the studio please bring at least $20.00. (The clay was approximately $17.00 at the time of writing.) Clay will not be issued without payment.
  • Please bring cash in small denominations so we do not have to issue change.
  • Small set of Pottery tools – please ask your tutor for advice or contact Adult Education if you are unsure.
  • Set of paint brushes – fine to large.
  • 1m square of canvas
  • Glad wrap
  • Plastic garbage bags (all sizes)
  • Notebook and pen.
  • Apron or over-shirt.
  • Old towel – for wiping your hands, holding pots etc..

What to wear

You must wear covered shoes, a long-sleeved shirt and long trousers.

Important information

  • For your health and safety we recommend you do not eat or drink in the pottery building.
  • If you have your own transport please take your clay home each week. The limited storage is for students using public transport.
  • Class fee covers glazes, associated materials and firing of the work that students produce during the class. It does not cover work produced outside the class.

Please note that children must not attend this class unless it is a specified parent/child activity.

Cancellations and Refunds
Please choose your course carefully. A full refund is payable in the event that a class is cancelled. No other refunds are considered except for extenuating circumstances which are supported by a written application.
