Course description

A continuation class, designed to transfer the Student’s basic knowledge into practical situations. To achieve this, students will use stories, based on everyday situations, that can serve as points of departure to facilitate individual participation. The grammar associated with the class activities will also be provided, so the students can gain the understanding of what to say and how to say it. Please note that, participants are expected to do and present some homework for correction, also frequent attendance is required. People who enrol in this course will receive extra tuition, free of charge at a different venue, for as long as they are members of this class.

What your course will cover

The first hour of each class will concentrate on the following grammar:

  • Revision of Term 1 grammar.
  • Irregular verbs – ir, querer, tener, poder, haber.
  • Direct and indirect pronouns.
  • Introduction to the imperfect tense.
  • The use of the infinitive.

During the second hour of each class, you will:

  • Apply orally the grammar points introduced.
  • Undertake oral work.

  • For those who have completed 1 term (18 hours) of adult education Spanish study or its equivalent.
  • As this is a very intensive course it requires students to make a substantial commitment to additional study. Julio also encourages his students to attend at least one of his additional weekly classes. These classes are free, are independent of adult education, and are held at a city venue. Please note that it will be difficult to keep up with this class without undertaking this extra work or spending at least 2 hours per week reviewing the work undertaken in your class.

What to bring

  • Pen and note book for work done in class.
  • A folder for your many handouts – an expandable A4 folder with plastic sleeves is recommended.
  • Spanish/English dictionary.
  • Please bring a laptop or USB to the first session

Important information

  • PLEASE NOTE Julio does not use a textbook.
  • If you are unsure of your level, please phone the hotline on 6165 5600 during business hours.
