Tai Chi for Relaxation

Shibashi Qi Gong is practised to enhance energy and relaxation and provide exercise and health benefits for the mind and body.
h2. Course description
Tai Chi – Shibashi Qi Gong is a complete health system comprising low impact physical exercise, deep breathing and meditative relaxation techniques.
Tai Chi is principally a tranquil, gentle and pleasurable means of attaining and maintaining health, harmony in mind and body, mobility, suppleness and mental alertness.
Anyone, regardless of age or fitness level, can practise and benefit from Tai Chi. The movements assist in managing arthritis, relieving stress, recovering from illness or an operation and achieving or maintaining general well-being.

What your course will cover

In this course you will participate and acquire skills at a measured pace with clear directions and assistance to achieve a competence in the following:-

  • Shibashi Form – a sequence of 18 flowing movements including Painting the Rainbow, Parting the Clouds, Playing with Waves, which embrace the fundamentals of tai chi including posture, controlled breathing and a focused mind.
  • Ba Duan Jin – or Eight Golden Treasures are 8 separate movements introducing tai chi techniques.

What to wear

  • Loose, comfortable clothing and flat shoes or runners should be worn to class.

Please note that children must not attend this class unless it is a specified parent/child activity.
