Welding - Basic
Course description
An introduction to basic welding processes. This course is suited to the hobbyist and the home handyperson.
What your course will cover
- A hands-on, practical course in which you can learn basic cutting and welding techniques using the electric arc, oxy and MIG welding processes
- Thin materials of 1.6 and 3mm mild steel will be used during this course
What you can hope to achieve
- Develop skills to safely undertake basic welding projects
What to bring
Under the requirements of the Tasmanian ‘Workplace Health and Safety Act - 1995’, all participants in training being conducted in the workshop of this facility are to provide and use the following protective equipment during General Workshop (Fabrication) & Welding Activities
- Clothing – Combination overalls (NO uncovered flannelette shirts will be permitted)
- Steel capped safety boots (not shoes)
- Clear safety glasses
- Hearing protection (class 4)
- Gas welding goggles
- Leather welding gloves
- Welding helmet
Personal protective equipment required for this course can be purchased from any Welding Equipment and Supplies company – see listings in Yellow Pages.
