Tim O’Shea graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Wine Science) from Charles Sturt University in 1998. He completed the Australian Wine Research Institute’s Advanced Wine Assessment Course in 1997 and worked as an Associate Judge at the Liquorland National Wine Show in Canberra that year. He attended the Institute of Masters of Wine intensive tasting seminars in 1999, 2000 and 2001.From 1996 to 2002, Tim worked with McWilliams Wines at Griffith and in the Hunter Valley, and gained experience with sparkling wine production at Yellow Glen and Domaine Chandon in Victoria. He has special interests in high quality sparkling wines, table wines based on Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer, and Australia’s unique Rutherglen fortified wines.
Tim has been involved with conducting the Top of the Taste wine competition since 2007, and has been the Chief Steward for the annual Tasmanian Wine Show since 2008. Tim also presents “Wine for Everyone”, which introduces participants to the diversity and exceptional quality of Tasmanian table wines.
