Howard took up jewellery fabrication in 1989 at TAFE Fine Arts in Launceston and was then employed there as a sessional teacher in jewellery, sculpture and drawing. Howard has been selling work at various outlets, mostly within Tasmania since 1993. His designs reflect an awareness of nature’s patterns as well as those of architecture and engineering and his choice of materials is eclectic. Howard shares a studio/workshop in Geeveston known as ‘the HR factor’ with Rino Nobel.
