Tamayo Leahy was born in Japan and emigrated to Australia in 1986. She has a Batchelor of Arts from the Fukuoka Women’s University in Japan and a Batchelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from UTAS. In 2008 she won the Best Print award at the City of Burnie Art Exhibition and that year she was also runner up in the Print/Drawing section of the Clarence City Open Art Exhibition. Tamayo currently participates in oil, acrylic, watercolour and silk painting as well as print making. She has been silk painting for over 5 years.
