Introducing…Evelyn Antonysen
Award winning artist
Evelyn is Tasmanian born and now living at Forth where she paints and conducts classes from her studio. Well known in the art world on the Coast, Evelyn is an active member of the local Art Circle and committee member for the Australian Society for Miniature Art. Over the past 10 years she has conducted workshops, been artist in residence at schools, taught at Adult Education and been involved in many activities concerned with promoting art in the community. One of her favourites is the Deloraine Art and Craft Fair in which she has participated since 1996.
While Evelyn primarily uses water media, she enjoys all art materials and has won awards with watercolour, silkpainting, pastel and oil/acrylic, for both miniature and large format works. She particularly loves the lustre and sensuous nature of silkworks.
Subject-wise her primary passions are the Tasmanian landscape and the flowers of her expansive garden. Evelyn loves moody skies, mountains and water and depicts these in a sensitive, realistic but not photographic style. In a busy world Evelyn’s paintings are about peace and relaxation: a way of reducing stress for both the artist and the viewer.
In 2005 Evelyn opened a Gallery in Penguin with her photographer son. More of her works may be seen at her studio/gallery in Forth.
