Born in the U.K. as one of triplets in Feb 1945, Peter’s family migrated to Tasmania after the Second World War in 1952.
Fortunate to be brought up on an estate farm in the county of Oxfordshire, he fondly remembers his boyhood adventures with his ‘zoological’ father in and around the woodland/lakes of Ditchly Park – originally laid out by the pre-eminent landscaper ‘Capability’ Brown. Another field of interest was to later compliment his interests in all Natural History disciplines when he married into a ‘botanical’ family in 1968.
As soon as he began work at fifteen, he purchased his first ‘close-up’ camera so he could share his discoveries with others, in particular near his home at Latrobe in the Mersey Valley.
His accrued knowledge and technical expertise in photography were rewarded in 1995 when he was invited to a position on the National Accreditation of Nature Judges – Australian Photographic Society. Peter also co-authored ‘The Native Orchids of Tasmania’ a text book for lovers of our unique native plant species.
