Course Description

Would you like a course where you listen, think and speak in Italian from the word go?

Then Italian Fast and Fun C – Primi Passi is for you.

This course is a continuation of Italian Fast and Fun B – Andiamo.

  • Anyone who has any experience in Italian could potentially do this course, so if you think you might fit into this category, contact Adult Education before enrolling and we will put you in touch with the tutor for further information.

This course will further equip the traveller with useful phrases for asking directions, booking rooms and apartments, shopping, describing people and places.

What your course will cover

  • 300 most common italian words, a large number of common Italian verbs.
  • How to construct sentences from bite sized chunks
  • Making comparisons between life in Australia and life in Italy
  • Talking about distances and times
  • Making polite requests

Language ‘hacks’ (language learning tips)

  • Repeated viewing and retelling of video clips
  • Use of song gapfills to learn common expressions and colloquial parlance
  • Placing the verb before the noun to ‘italianise’ discourse.
  • Making personal statements with new language learnt
  • Constructing ‘spida grams’ for memorising vocabulary

You will learn the following grammar

  • Comparative forms
  • Likes and dislikes and expressing preferences
  • Passato remoto and future tense
  • Revision of possessive and reflexive pronouns, use of object pronouns, eg: ti abbiamo dato il libro = telo abbiamo dato.
  • use of conjunctions: piuttosto, però, nonostante etc.

  • Include more complex sentence structure through use of conjunctions
  • Improve listening skills
  • Gain awareness of 'authentic language'
  • Continue to gain confidence in expressing oneself in the language

  • Most language classes fill up quickly. However, your class could be cancelled if not enough people enrol. If you are concerned about buying a book that may be of no use to you then please check the viability of your class with adult education before purchasing your text.
